Anisa Mehdi: Producer, professor, and pundit. This Emmy Award-winning journalist and educator specializes in religion and the arts. With 30 years producing, directing and writing under her belt, Anisa’s career reflects a commitment to cross-boundary communication and understanding. The first American broadcaster to cover the hajj pilgrimage from Mecca, she’s made several films on the subject: National Geographic’s acclaimed “Inside Mecca,” and, more recently, “Sacred Journeys: the Hajj,” that premiered in December 2014 on PBS nationwide. She’s been a commentator for NPR, teaches at Seton Hall University, consults to the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art, and was a Fulbright Scholar in Jordan. Anisa is vice chair of the Abraham Path Initiative and a trustee of the Esalen Institute. She is an alumna of Wellesley College and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
