Abstract
Interfaith Harmony : Consciousness Shift and Actions at the GrassrootsLet’s look at the green shoots pushing up through what is broken down. The United Religions Initiative (URI), a global grassroots organization, nurtures enduring daily interfaith cooperation. Presentation will offer enthusiastic evidence of the mind-shifts, initiatives and civic actions happening within URI’s global network. Sally Mahé is Director of Regional Development with the United Religions Initiative (URI), an international interfaith organization that relies on locally rooted interfaith communities to transform religious tension into positive social good. In that role, Sally helps build and sustain URI’s organizational infrastructure by supporting eight regional leadership teams from around the world. She is co-author of Birth of a Global Community: Appreciative Inquiry in Action, 2003; and, A Greater Democracy Day by Day, 2004. Sally holds an M. Ed from Harvard and a MA in Theology from General Episcopal Seminary. Prior to serving as core staff for URI, Sally developed a nationally recognized curriculum in the basic principles of democracy, Law in Action Series, 1980, and created spiritual education programs, “Spirit of Place”, “Deepening the Journey,” “Educating for Democracy.”
