Abstract

While psychedelics’ psychotherapeutic uses are becoming better known, Thomas Roberts surveys some of their lesser known additions to the “House of Intellect” including: consilience, mind emergence, inventing paradigms, problem solving, experimental humanities, enhancing cognition and intellect, Grofian interpretations, multistate theory, solving financial impediments, inventing novel cognitive processes and mindbody states, mind apps and mind design.

Thomas B. Roberts, Ph.D., is an emeritus professor at Northern Illinois University, where he teaches Foundations of Psychedelic Studies as an Honors Program Seminar. Started in 1981, it is the world’s first university-cataloged psychedelic course. His major publications include: Religion and Psychoactive Sacraments: An Entheogen Chrestomathy (1995-2001, www.csp.org/chrestomathy), Psychedelic Horizons (2006), Psychedelic Medicine (co-editor 2007), Spiritual Growth with Entheogens (editor 2012), and The Psychedelic Future of the Mind (2013). He is the formulator of Multistate Theory, a founding member of MAPS, co-founder of the Council on Spiritual Practices, launched the Rising Researcher sessions, and originated the celebration of Bicycle Day.
