Abstract

This conversation explores the emerging field of Integral Psychotherapy. As practicing psychotherapists, panelists discuss how they apply principles of integral psychology in their practice.

Panel members:

Richard Stein, M.D. is a psychiatrist and Jungian analyst who has been in private practice in San Francisco for the last 25 years. He is on the training faculty of the San Francisco Jung Institute, and formerly on the adjunct faculty of CIIS. He first visited the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry in 1973, at the time of Mother's passing.

R. Celest Powell, Ph.D., MSW is a full-time staff member in the Adult Psychiatry and Internal Medicine Department at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek, California, Dr. Powell is also an adjunct faculty member at John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, as well as a clinical supervisor at the Holistic Counseling Center in Oakland. She has been a member of the East Bay integral yoga study group since 1990. Her interest and practice is in the provision of integral psychology and the interface between Western psychological theoretical orientations and Integral Yoga.

Brant Cortright, Ph.D. is Director of the Integral Counseling Psychology program at CIIS, where he teaches courses on integral psychology and integral psychotherapy. He is a licensed psychologist in private practice and is the author of Psychotherapy and Spirit: Theory and Practice in Transpersonal Psychotherapy (SUNY Press.)

Kathleen Wall Ph.D. Integrates spirituality and psychotherapy, which she first based on Psychosynthesis (1984) and then the Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother (since1986). The co-author of Rites of Passage: Celebrating Life’s Changes, she is a licensed psychologist in private practice of psychospiritual integral consciousness cultivation in San Jose’, California. She is on the core faculty at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP), Palo Alto, California. where she co-teaches psychospiritual integration and transformation based on the Integral Yoga with Carl Peters M.D. email: kwall@itp.edu. She also is a counseling psychologist at San Jose’ State University.
