Abstract

In this presentation, former CIIS faculty member, Academic Dean, and Academic Vice President will share his account of a thirty year span of CIIS history from the mid -1970s, following the passing of CIIS founder, Dr. Haridas Chaudhuri, into the mid-2000s. He will describe some high and some low points of the Institute’s history over this 30-year period.

Ralph Metzner, Ph.D. Is a pioneer in the field of east-west psychology and consciousness research and co-founder and president of the Green Earth Foundation, a non-profit educational organization devoted to healing and harmonizing the relationship between humans and the Earth. He has authored more than a dozen books and numerous other articles and book chapters. Ralph started teaching at the Institute in 1975, became Program Director of the East-West Psychology program and then Academic Dean in 1979, shepherding the Institute through its first challenging but heroic WASC accreditation process. He served under five presidents and briefly as part of a temporary three-person presidential troika. He finally retired in 2006 and became professor emeritus. He conducts workshops on consciousness transformation and alchemical divination, both nationally and internationally.
